Overview
To successfully implement an EDRM solution you need to carry out two
core programmes of work.
First, you need to agree and implement a records management
strategy. This course takes you through that process following the proven
DIRKS methodology (developed by the National Archives of Australia) and
the international standard ISO 15489.
Second, you need to define your functional and technical requirements
for an EDRM solution and then procure and implement the right solution for
your organisation. This course takes you through the different stages of this process following
Cimtech’s proven methodology.
Programme
The morning session starts
with a review of the stages you need to go through to successfully implement
an EDRM solution and how to set up and manage an EDRM project.
The course reviews the information gathering and analysis tasks.
Guidance is provided on how to analyse your business activities and draw
up
a classification scheme and file plan, how to review your record
keeping requirements and draw up a retention schedule, how to audit
your current
systems and produce a gap analysis and how to review your active
document and content management requirements.
The afternoon session covers the feasibility study and business
case stage. Several strategy and system options are reviewed and
and you
will be taken through the process of developing a business case
for the preferred approach.
The course then reviews the steps involved in defining a detailed
statement of requirements (SOR) for the preferred EDRM solution
including all
the functions and services required and the preferred implementation
plan.
The course closes with a review of the range of solutions
on the marketplace from SharePoint and open source software to corporate ECM solutions.
The sessions are designed to be interactive with time set aside
for discussion.
